Welcome to week 3 of the AI Developer Challenge! I am so excited about every single submission! Now I don’t know about you but in my family, we love avocado! Especially my youngest could eat it all the time. Let’s use the Data Attribute Recommendation service to build an avocado price prediction engine! With Data Attribute Recommendation you can train regression as well as classification models and you can use the SAP AI Launchpad, Postman, Swagger or the AI API Python SDK to implement your use case! With Data Attribute Recommendation you need to specify a model template or a business blueprint to specify what kind of algorithm should be used. For this challenge we will use the regression model template to implement an avocado price predictor! If you do not like avocado, feel free to come up with another use case and search for a fitting dataset (e.g. here). This week we start by uploading and preparing our dataset schema and our dataset! For that we will be using the AI API which is a standardized way to interact with different AI runtimes and services such as SAP AI Core or Data Attribute Recommendation. Go to your BTP trial account and create a DAR instance (you can use the booster): https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/cp-aibus-dar-service-instance.html Download this dataset Download the postman collection for the Data Attribute Recommendation service and import the folder to Postman Go to the environment tab on the left and add the information from your DAR service key from step 1. authUrl = url from the uaa section in your .json file url = url Make sure to select the correct environment and go back to the Collections tab to create a token with the Get XSUAA OAuth Token GET request in the Authorization folder. If everything is set up correctly it will take the url, username and password from your environmental variables you configured in step 4. It will also assign the token to the correct variable in the environment for further use. Make sure to repeat this step once the token timed out. Create a dataset_schema.json file Go back to the Environments tab and assign a folder name (e.g. avocado_price_predictor) and a datasetSchemaFileRegression name (e.g. dataset_schema.json) as well as a datasetFileRegression name (e.g. avocado_data.csv) and also assign the scenarioIdRegression = '35cd9fbc-7290-4042-b6df-178d74c67363' or find the correct Scenario ID here. Document Information Extraction: The Document Information Extraction service is available in two editions, the original Base Edition and the new genAI-based Premium Edition. The genAI-based Premium edition is using a large language model via generative AI hub on SAP AI Core to extract information from all kinds of documents. With Document Information Extraction you can extract information from the file types PDF or single page JPEG, PNG and TIFF.   Supported document types are: invoice, paymentAdvice, purchaseOrder, businessCard, deliveryNote, resume and birthCertificate. The UI is great to try out your use case and get a feeling of the capabilities of the service. For productive use cases you would call the APIs or implement a workflow using the Python SDK. Productively, you could then for example implement a workflow that processes documents right out of your mailbox, saves the extracted information in the system and structure you need as well as triggers other necessary workflows. For this week’s challenge, use the UI to extract the header fields “recipe name”, “portions” and the line items “quantity” and “ingredient” from your chosen recipe. Therefore, you need to create a custom schema. Make sure the recipe is in one of the supported languages. When creating a custom Schema chose the Setup Type auto to use the llm/genAI-based Premium Edition. In the description field provide information for the large language model to understand what you are referring to e.g. “the name of the recipe”. Dear community, I recently noticed the LASTCHANGEDATETIME field in the EKKO database table in a S/4HANA system. At the moment I'm not sure whether this field only exists in a S/4HANA because I didn't find it in a SAP ECC EHP8. However, if the field stores exactly what the name implies, that would be great. The date and time a document was created or changed has always been an important information for me. In addition, my interest in this topic was piqued - please follow my little journey... 🙂 First steps Ok, the starting point was the data element of the field. That's CHANGEDATETIME (domain TZNTSTMPL). As the documentation of the data element says: The field stores a time stamp. Here is some help about time stamps in ABAP and a little example I've tried out. Please pay attention to the short form (data element TIMESTAMP) and long form (data element TIMESTAMPL) as described in the online help. REPORT ztime_stamps. DATA lv_short_time_stamp TYPE timestamp. DATA lv_long_time_stamp TYPE timestampl. GET TIME STAMP FIELD lv_short_time_stamp. GET TIME STAMP FIELD lv_long_time_stamp. The following screenshot shows the result. example result During my further search on the Internet for more information, I found this page. Very interesting. It contains several examples of how to deal with time stamps in ABAP. Especially calculating (see class CL_ABAP_TSTMP). The story went on The where-used list for the data element TIMESTAMPL (see example above) allowed me to find various database tables in which time stamps in long forms are used. Among other things, the TDEVC was listed. A look at this database table via transaction SE16 showed that not all entries have a time stamp. My Z-namespace development packages, for example, don't have one - for whatever reason? The BW_SDATA package has a time stamp: 20.130.925.094.535,3021930 in the field TECH_CHG_TSTMP. Formatting in Excel My next question was about Excel and time stamps. Transaction SE16 is often used to export selected data records to Excel. If these data records contain time stamps, then one would certainly want to format them for better reading. Yep, even for a computer scientist, 20.130.925.094.535,3021930 is not nice to read 🙂 To my surprise, that was exported directly to match. No further formatting necessary. Great! ready to read after export Should there ever be a requirement to convert the time stamp in Excel, this can work as described below. The function "=TEXT(A1;"0000-00-00 00\:00\:00")+0" and some user defined cell format a la "TT/MM/JJJJ hh:mm:ss" (German Excel version) solved the problem when cell A1 contains the time stamp. Here's an example. time stamp from A1 formatted in B1 Final question The question remains whether the times of ERDAT/AEDAT and ERZET/AEZET fields are over now? Or long gone and I didn't notice? I know of many newer custom database tables that contain such fields and which are well suited for their purpose. Should we now only use one time stamp for the creation date and time and another time stamp for the change date and time? And what does that mean for ABAP program logic and ABAP CDS (I've found this help page)? What are your experiences? Please share. I'm curious.
